The African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin (AACCW) is seeking college/university level students who have the desire to support our mission of championing the growth and sustainability of African American owned businesses by providing access to capital, education and advocacy through capacity building and strategic partnerships.
Intern, Programming
The Chamber’s programming is fundamentally at the core of what we offer entrepreneurs and small business owners. Thus, the Programming Intern should be comfortable managing a diverse workflow to support the comprehensive efforts of Chamber programming. The Chamber’s programming includes RISE MKE Entrepreneurial Training and SPUR Capacity Building Series. Success in this role requires a specific desire to learn, the ability to excel both independently and collectively, and a strong analytical capacity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct research and produce write-ups, reports, and/or presentations on the research topic(s)
• Participate in team brainstorms and meetings
• Assist with managing and overseeing programming in various areas of entrepreneurship
• Prepare collateral material as needed for programming
• Assist with registration, attend events, and take pictures as available
• Assist Chamber staff as needed with other projects
• Demonstrated interest in Milwaukee’s business community
Qualifications:
• Enrolled in a 4-year college/university
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Creative/collaborative
• Strong researcher and communicator
• Exceptional time management skills
• Extraordinary attention to detail
• Desire to grow and contribute in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Compensation:
• $13-$15 per hour for up to 20 hours per week (M-F, between 9am-5pm)
• Internship is available June through August 2020.

Intern, Fundraising
Position Summary:
The Chamber is actively fundraising for general operations and the Legacy capital campaign. The Fundraising Intern will assist with identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individuals & companies interested in support AACCW. Success in this role requires a specific desire to learn the art of fund development and strong interpersonal skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with gift acknowledgement, donor database creating, and filing of donations
• Research and prepare background for individuals, corporations, and possible sponsorship/grant applications
• Assist with campaign solicitations, sponsorships and in-kind requests (both written and verbal)
• Coordinate closely with President, Marketing Consultant and Fundraising Consultant on social media, collateral, and web content for fundraising information
• Assist Chamber staff as needed with other projects
• Demonstrated interest in Milwaukee’s business community
Qualifications:
• Enrolled in a 4-year college/university
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Creative/collaborative
• Strong researcher and communicator
• Sales experience is essential
• Extraordinary attention to detail
• Desire to grow and contribute in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Compensation:
• $13-$15 per hour for up to 20 hours per week (M-F, between 9am-5pm)

Intern, Membership
Position Summary:
The Membership Intern will assist the organization in developing a recruitment and retention strategy. Assist in developing collateral material for various outlets such as website, social media, and other outlets. The Membership Intern must represent the African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin in a courteous and professional manner, serving members promptly and professionally.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work in the existing database to review and develop member records to ensure accuracy and updating as needed
• Participate in team brainstorms and meetings
• Maintain and collect correct emails, phone numbers, websites, etc
• Attend membership events and assist in registration and taking photos as available
• Prepare collateral as needed to support membership engagement
• Assist Chamber staff as needed with other projects
• Demonstrated interest in Milwaukee’s business community
Qualifications:
• Enrolled in a 4-year college/university
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Excellent administrative, verbal, and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Exceptional time management skills
• Extraordinary attention to detail
• Desire to grow and contribute in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Compensation:
• $13-$15 per hour for up to 20 hours per week (M-F, between 9am-5pm)
